โจ What's New
New features and improvements on Attend-class.com โ newest first.
April 2026
NEW
you can easily schedule exams, events and meetings for your students to see! You can now host office hours and meetings with aย digital queue systemย so students can wait in line virtually, and best of all, you can sync everything to yourย Google Calendarย for easy access on your phone.
NEW
Open any student's page and see a complete log of every file they've submitted โ what they uploaded, exactly when, and whether it was on time or late. If a student claims they submitted before the deadline, this is your first stop. Late submissions are clearly flagged so you don't have to cross-check timestamps manually.
NEW
If you hold online classes through Microsoft Teams, download the attendance report from Teams after the meeting and upload it here. Attendance for the session is recorded automatically โ no manual entry, no copy-pasting names.
NEW
The Group Labels and Scheduling feature provides a centralized mechanism for organizing student cohorts and communicating critical timeline milestones. By assigning custom labels and associated dates to specific groups, instructors can formally designate presentation schedules, track project statuses, or signal task completion. These updates are synchronized in real-time for student visibility, ensuring that all participants remain informed of their current standing and upcoming academic deadlines.
NEW
The Multi-Group Reordering feature allows you to reorganize your class structure efficiently by selecting and moving multiple groups simultaneously. Instead of managing groups individually, you can multi-select several cohorts and drag them into a new sequence in a single action, which is particularly useful for establishing presentation orders or chronological schedules. Engineered for reliability across both desktop and touchscreen tablet interfaces.
NEW
Use this when you want students to evaluate each other's contribution to a group project โ a common requirement for fair group grading. Students submit their reviews through the app and the scores feed directly into the grade book. Key options:
- Forced ranking โ students must rank every teammate from best to worst, preventing the "I gave everyone a 5" problem that makes peer reviews meaningless
- Separate reviewer grade โ optionally reward students who write thoughtful, detailed reviews
- Teacher overview โ see all submitted reviews in one place before approving the grades
- Warnings โ students who haven't submitted their review are flagged before the deadline
NEW
Four grading scenarios now handled automatically:
- Changed the quiz to be out of 80 instead of 100? Rescaling adjusts everyone's existing grade proportionally in one click โ no recalculating by hand.
- Need a single "Final Grade" column that combines midterm, project, and attendance? Use aggregation to weight them however your syllabus specifies.
- A student missed the exam and sat a makeup? Record the makeup grade separately so both scores are kept for your records.
- Entering grades for the whole class from a paper sheet? Bulk entry lets you go row by row quickly without clicking into individual cells.
NEW
The verification workflow now covers more scenarios to prevent impersonation and reduce your review time:
- Device confirmation before assignments โ students must confirm their registered device before submitting files, not just for attendance
- Passcode option โ require a class-specific code as a second check when handing out an assignment in person
- Bulk approval โ check all the IDs you've reviewed and hit "Approve All Checked" instead of clicking each one individually
NEW
Once the assignment deadline passes, download all student submissions as a single ZIP folder. Each file is named by the student's ID so you can open them in order and grade offline without hunting through individual downloads. No more students emailing you their files separately.
Every semester you likely use the same attendance rules, grade items, group structure, and messaging preferences. Instead of recreating them from scratch each time, copy them from last semester's class in one step โ then only adjust what has actually changed. Saves 10โ15 minutes of setup at the start of each term.
NEW
Create an assignment and students submit their reports, PDFs, images, or any other file directly through the app โ no email, no WhatsApp groups, no shared drives. All submissions land in your teacher view organized by student, timestamped, and ready to download. Students who haven't submitted are also immediately visible.
NEW
When students enable push notifications on their device, they receive an alert the moment you broadcast an announcement โ even if the app isn't open. Useful for time-sensitive messages like "class moved to room 204" or "assignment deadline extended by one day." Students who haven't opted in still see the message next time they open the app.
Export the complete group layout of your class โ all group names, members, and labels โ to a file. Useful for submitting group lists to administration, sharing with a co-teacher, or keeping an archived record of group assignments at the time of grading.
In a class of 100+ students, find any student instantly by typing their name or ID in the search box โ no scrolling through the table. When you export a class report, it reflects the filter and sort order currently on screen, so you can export just one group's grades or only students sorted by total score.
March 2026
NEW
Instead of assigning a single number for a presentation or project, build a rubric with criteria like "Content (10 pts)", "Delivery (5 pts)", and "References (5 pts)" โ each with descriptors for each level. Click the appropriate level for each student and their grade calculates itself. If you adjust the rubric later (for example, changing a criterion's weight), existing student grades update automatically across the whole class.
If your institution uses Microsoft Teams for course management, export your student list from there and import it directly here. Student names and IDs are populated automatically โ no retyping, no copy-pasting from a spreadsheet.
February 2026
When you want students to choose their own project partners, enable this and they can join or leave groups directly from the student-facing page. You see every change reflected in real time on your end โ no need to collect a sign-up sheet or manage a shared document. When sign-ups are over, lock the groups with one click.
Arrange your groups in any order that makes sense โ by presentation date, by topic, alphabetically, or however your class is structured. The order you set is the same order students see on their end, making it easier to coordinate when "Group 3 presents next."
If your syllabus states "students lose 2 marks for every absence beyond 3," configure that rule once in Class Settings. The system tracks absences throughout the semester and applies the deduction automatically to the attendance grade โ no spreadsheet math, no manual corrections at the end of term.
Type part of a first name and part of a last name in any order and the search finds the right student. Searching "ali sa" will match "Saleh Ali Saad" even though those letters aren't adjacent. In a large class where you only half-remember a student's name, this saves a lot of scrolling.
January 2026
Teaching the same course across three sections? Set up your grade items and weights once, export the schema, and import it into each section. All your grade columns โ midterm, assignments, quizzes โ are ready in seconds with no repeated data entry.
2025
The navigation bar and sidebar have a subtler, more modern look with frosted-glass transparency and blur. This is a purely visual update โ no change to how anything works, just a cleaner aesthetic that feels less dated on high-resolution screens.
If you use the app in a darkened lecture hall, during evening sessions, or just prefer a darker interface, enable dark mode from the sidebar under Appearance. The entire site switches to a dark color scheme that is easier on the eyes. Your preference is remembered and applied automatically every time you log in.
During a one-on-one meeting with a student, update their grade directly from their profile page โ no need to navigate to the full grades table, scroll to their row, and find the right column. Open the student, tap the grade item, enter the score, done.
2024
While students are scanning the attendance code, the counter at the top of the session page updates every second. Watch the number climb as students check in โ when it stops and matches your expected headcount, you know everyone is in. No need to manually count or refresh the page.
Once the group sign-up period is over and you're ready to assign grades, lock individual groups to prevent any last-minute changes. Locked groups are clearly marked for students, so they understand why they can no longer switch. You can unlock at any time if a genuine exception arises.
